Privacy Policy

This is the plain-English version. If we ever change something, we'll update the date at the top and, if it's material, email everyone on the waitlist.

Who runs Troupe

Troupe is being built by Lucas Bru, a solo founder based in Manly, Sydney, Australia. Contact: lucas@troupeapp.com.au.

What we collect right now

Right now (pre-launch, July 2026) Troupe is a waitlist landing page. The only information we collect is:

Your email address, when you submit the waitlist form.
Basic analytics that Netlify (our host) collects automatically — mostly page views and rough location (country/state). No personally identifying tracking cookies.

What we'll collect once the app is live

When the Troupe app launches in September 2026, we'll additionally collect:

Profile info you enter (name, age range, sports you play, your level, your suburb)
Approximate location (only to show you locals nearby, never precise GPS unless you explicitly enable it)
Messages you send to other Troupers through the app
Basic device info (iOS/Android version, app crash reports via Sentry) for stability

What we do with it

Your email → we send you one launch email in September 2026. That's it. No spam. No selling your details.
Profile info → to match you with local Troupers for your sport.
Location → to sort suggestions by distance. Never shared publicly.
Messages → visible only to you and the person you're messaging.

Who we share with

Nobody, except:

Google (Firebase), which hosts our backend database and authentication. Standard cloud infrastructure.
Netlify, which hosts this landing page.
Google Workspace, where our email inbox lives.
Australian law enforcement, only if legally required.

We do not sell your data to advertisers, brokers, or anyone else. That's a promise.

Your rights

Under Australian Privacy Principles, you can:

Ask what data we hold on you (email lucas@troupeapp.com.au, we'll reply within 30 days)
Ask us to delete your data (same email, we'll do it within 7 days)
Withdraw from the waitlist anytime (reply "unsubscribe" to any email)

Kids

Troupe is for adults 18+. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, contact Lucas first. If that doesn't resolve it, you can escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

The lawyerly bit

This is a v1 privacy policy written in plain English by a solo founder. Before app launch, this will be reviewed and formalised by a qualified Australian lawyer. If you spot anything unclear or concerning, please email Lucas directly.
